NKUA Ranked 82nd Worldwide and 19th in Europe in the AD Scientific Index World Top Universities Ranking 2022

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) has achieved a remarkable distinction, showcasing the high-quality, impactful, and globally recognized research output of the institution, as reflected in the results of the “AD Scientific Index World Top Universities Ranking 2022.”
Specifically, NKUA ranks 82nd globally among 16,091 universities from 216 countries included in the index. Furthermore, it is ranked 19th among European universities and holds the 1st position among Greek public universities for 2022.
This ranking is unique as it is based on overall and recent (last five years) research productivity indicators of the most significant scientists and researchers from universities worldwide.
The performance, score, and ranking of each university are calculated using h-index and i10 index scores, along with citations from Google Scholar of its researchers.
For 2022, the ranking analyzed the research output of 1,019,535 scientists from 216 countries, including 6,685 Greek professors from Greek public universities.
Another noteworthy achievement for NKUA is that it has the largest number of scientists among Greek universities in this ranking (1,440), with nine of them listed among the top 1,000 researchers globally.
