1. Application Deadline and Submission Procedure

  • Application period: From Monday, 19 October 2026, to Monday, 2 November 2026 (inclusive).
  • Submission procedure: Applications and the required supporting documents must be submitted electronically through the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) Electronic Protocol system, addressed to the Secretariat of the Department of Business Administration and Organizations.

Upon successful submission, applicants will receive a protocol number. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

2. Eligibility and Requirements for Full Tuition Fee Exemption

In accordance with Article 86 of Law 4957/2022 and Ministerial Decision 108990/Ζ1/08.09.2022 (Government Gazette, Series B, No. 4899/16.09.2022), eligibility for a full tuition fee exemption requires applicants to meet both the academic excellence criterion and the applicable income criteria.

Specifically, applicants must have obtained a grade of at least 7.5/10 in their first-cycle degree and must also satisfy the relevant income requirements.

A. Academic Excellence Criterion

Applicants must have obtained a grade of at least 7.5/10 in their first-cycle degree, provided that the degree was awarded by a Greek higher education institution using the ten-point grading scale.

For degrees awarded by institutions abroad, the criterion applies proportionately according to the corresponding grading scale.

B. Income Criteria for the 2026–2027 Academic Year

According to Ministerial Decision 41871/Ζ1/03.04.2026 (Government Gazette, Series B, No. 2124/09.04.2026), the applicable income thresholds are:

  • €11,700: 100% of the national median equivalised disposable income.
  • €8,190: 70% of the national median equivalised disposable income.

The income criteria apply as follows:

  • Unmarried students under the age of 26: The average annual combined taxable income of the applicant, their parents, and their unmarried siblings up to the age of 26, calculated over the two most recent tax years, must not exceed €8,190.
  • Students aged 26 and over: The average annual individual taxable income over the two most recent tax years must not exceed €11,700.
  • Married students or students in a civil partnership: The average annual combined taxable income of the applicant and their spouse or civil partner over the two most recent tax years must not exceed €11,700.

3. Eligibility for a 50% Tuition Fee Exemption

Students under the age of 26 who fall into one of the following categories may apply for a 50% tuition fee exemption:

  • Children from families with three or more children.
  • Children of a single parent.
  • Students who have lost at least one parent.
  • Persons with disabilities.
  • Members of a household that includes a person with a disability.

For this category, the average annual combined taxable income of all family members over the two most recent tax years must exceed €8,190 but must not exceed €11,700.

4. Required Supporting Documents

Applicants must submit the following supporting documents, depending on their personal and family circumstances:

  1. An application for tuition fee exemption, which also serves as a statutory declaration.
  2. A statutory declaration issued through gov.gr, confirming that the applicant has not previously exercised their right to a tuition fee exemption in another postgraduate programme under Article 86 of Law 4957/2022, does not receive a scholarship from another source, and declares that all submitted information and supporting documents are complete and truthful.
  3. Copies of E1 income tax returns and tax assessment notices, including ENFIA property tax assessment notices, for the two most recent tax years for which tax assessments have been completed, covering the family members specified by the relevant legislation.
  4. A family status certificate issued within the last three months.
  5. A death certificate, in cases where one or both parents are deceased.
  6. A divorce certificate, where required due to divorce or where the applicant is declared as the child of divorced parents.
  7. A copy of the first-cycle degree certificate, indicating the final degree grade.
  8. Additional supporting documents, where applicable, such as valid disability certificates, certification of large-family status, or other documents substantiating eligibility for the requested exemption.

In cases involving divorced parents, the specific legal provisions governing the tax information of the parent who declares the applicant as a dependent, or who declared the applicant as a dependent before the applicant began filing an individual tax return, shall apply.

The Programme of Studies Committee may request additional supporting documents if deemed necessary.

5. Application Review and Results

Applications will be reviewed by the Postgraduate Programme’s Programme of Studies Committee in accordance with the applicable legislation. A reasoned decision will be issued approving or rejecting each application.

The total number of students granted a tuition fee exemption may not exceed 30% of all students enrolled in the Programme in each academic year. If the number of eligible applicants exceeds this percentage, the ranking procedure established by the relevant legislation will apply.

A tuition fee exemption may be granted for studies in only one postgraduate programme at a Greek higher education institution. Third-country nationals are not eligible to apply.

Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their applications by the Secretariat.

If a tuition fee exemption is granted, any amount already paid to the Postgraduate Programme will be refunded upon submission of a request by the student concerned.

If an application is rejected, the applicant will be required to pay the tuition fees within a specified period.

6. Legal Framework

Interested students are kindly requested to carefully review the above requirements and ensure the timely and complete submission of their applications and all required supporting documents.
